Sea Safari Boat Trips - St Ives.

Depending on the weather conditions on the day of your trip, we will usually head West from the harbour in the direction of Lands End where we soon pass St Ives landmarks such as The Island, St Ives Head, Porthmeor Beach and the Tate gallery.

Situated just over three and a half miles West of St Ives, towards Lands End is a group of rocks formally known as “The Western Carracks” (Carracks is the Cornish word for rocks) that locally are known as Seal Island.

Seals inhabit many islands along the coast. These rocks are relatively easily reachable from our harbour and make a fantastic destination for a safari as we travel alongside some of the UK’s most stunning coastlines past beaches and cliffs, allowing for some shelter on breezier days of offshore winds.

The rocks provide some shelter from the prevailing Westerly conditions for the seals and an ample food supply around the fast-moving tidal channels that attract nomadic grey seals to stay on the island for weeks or months.

Whether they are resting, feeding or playing, it is usually one of the most reliable locations for seal spotting
